Silver RX is Monitor Audio's stunning mid-market speaker range. Classically configured and crafted using our finest proven technologies, Silver RX offers the widest appeal by providing a truly affordable audiophile performance from a slender décor-friendly design. Techniques and materials refined for our flagship models are deployed comprehensively throughout each of the seven RX designs, which combine in matching stereo and multi-channel systems to provide a dynamic blend of audio accuracy, exceptional build quality and design excellence.
Resplendent in a choice of premium quality real wood veneers: Rosenut, Natural Oak, Walnut, Black Oak, and high-gloss black or white piano finishes, the ravishing RX series relies on Monitor Audio's most prestigious science for its proven class-leading sound quality. The RX cabinets are constructed from 19mm MDF throughout (25mm for RXW12 subwoofer), and in conjunction with bolt-through driver bracing, employ additional radial and cross-bracing for high box rigidity and low cabinet colouration. Magnetic grille fixing makes attaching and removing the grille easier and provides a cleaner look when the grille is removed. Using FEA (Finite Elemental Analysis) we have developed new ways to shape our C-CAM® driver material in the cause of even greater fidelity. We've precision-tuned the RX tweeter design, bringing higher sensitivity and a wider bandwidth for finer high frequency resolution. Advanced computer simulations and intensive listening sessions have optimised the performance of the RST® (Rigid Surface Technology) mid-range/bass drivers as well. Their super-stiff dimpled profiles are more resistant to break-up under high drive conditions and so produce a wider range of purer frequencies.
In developing the finest traditions of the brand, the Silver RX range offers a performance that will satisfy and endure. For music or home theatre applications, Monitor Audio’s Silver RX has the perfect mix of virtues for 21st Century living.

Hi-Fi News: Highly Commended Silver RX8 Review
"If your main concern is value for money, then it would seem you need to look no further than the Monitor Audio Silver RX8s."
"Not only do they have the biggest driver line-up, but the Monitor Audios also have the biggest sound of all the units on test. The Silver RX8s are superbly dynamic, punchy and love to play loud."
"...the bass offered superlative levels of grip, punch and detail, even edging ahead of the impressively capable Tannoys in this respect."
"Detail retrieval was excellent right across the midband and the Monitor Audios were equally capable of creating an expansive soundstage, populated with believable performers."
"These cabinets full of metallic drive units never once sounded either edgy or shrill as the true nature of all kinds of acoustic instruments came across splendidly."
"The Silver RX8s rounded things off with a treble that was sleek, crisp and vivid."
"Bass weight and detail was not a problem for the Monitor Audios. These had both in spades thanks to their proliferation of drive units and three way configuration, and they loved to be played loud and hard. Fortunately, when everything was reined back they continued to impress with their neutrality, clarity and sheer musicality..."
"Build quality was absolutely first-class and the sleek cabinets house a very intelligent driver and port design. They also romp home with the 'most speaker for your money' award."
Hi-Fi Choice: RX1 Review
“It set up a warm, spacious groove, almost as if the music had slowed down and you could hear into the mix more (always a good sign, as it’s not blurring the notes).”
“I suddenly found myself able to lock on to individual strands better, and enjoy following the maracas and tom-tom work. Suddenly I wasn’t just hearing
notes either; they had differing amounts of dynamic articulation; things weren’t all shouting at me.”
“Bass was stronger perhaps than all the others here, yet tuneful and less prone to signposting the cabinet’s boxiness. Treble was spacious, delicate and crisp, carrying all the harmonics from a trumpet...”
“...that monster bassline didn’t detract from a beautiful wash of synth sound further up the frequency range. It sparkled away, scything through the morass of thick bass.”
Silver RX6 Stereophile Review
“The Monitor’s midrange neutrality and rendering of detail, ambience, and holographic imaging made me mine my collection for vocal recordings… I never tire of Norah Jones singing “Don’t Know Why,” and through the Silver RX6s her perfectly silky, low level
vocal articulations were bathed in a rounded golden glow.”
“Lower in frequency, the Monitor was equally revealing and complimentary to well recorded male voices…”
“Through the Silver RX6s there was a real sense of instruments popping out of nowhere to rest on a bed of air in a deep, wide concert hall.”
“The Monitor’s extended, pristine high frequencies were showcased by another De Leeuw/Schönberg recording, of György Ligeti’s Cello Concerto…”
“The RX6’s high-frequency purity nicely dovetailed with its perfect rendition of crisp, clean, fast transients on recordings with percussive content.”
“The Silver RX6’s reproduction of bass was also superb. Dave Holland’s double-bass intro to Kevin Eubanks’s “Nemesis,” from Holland’s Extensions (CD, ECM 1410), was warm and three-dimensional throughout the instrument’s entire range.”
“The Silver RX6 was also a party speaker that could handle loud rock.”
“The Monitor was also a great home-theater speaker.”
"...the Silver RX6, excelled in every parameter by today’s standards, demonstrating a broad range of strengths and no weaknesses… It was an ideal match for every type of music, from delicate female voices and jazz trios to bombastic orchestral and electronic rock music. And its small footprint, attractive but unassuming appearance, and clean, extended bass performance make it an ideal home-theater speaker: one that obviates the need for a subwoofer. I can’t think of another affordable speaker that better meets such a broad range of needs.”
- Robert J. Reina, Stereophile
RX6 AV12 Package: Group Test Winner!
"Either way, the end result is a wide and deep soundfield. There’s scale and breadth at the front end thanks to the powerful RX6s.”
“The Center Channel… delivers a level of clarity to the speech that’s unrivaled here. Crisp and clear with movies, it’s open with music, too. Ultimately, it’s the space and detail given to sounds across the tonal range that’s crucial to this system’s character.”
“The detail is just as apparent with the subwoofer… agile and punchy rather than lazy and loose. These precise low frequencies are the foundation for impressive dynamics and real musicality… time has not withered the MA’s powers and it remains a masterful system that can do it all.”
Silver Rx - RX6 - Review"The RX6 AV12 does a great job of setting the mood, picking out fine atmospheric details and maintaining excellent low-level dynamics"
