The Airstream A100 Continues to Receive Positive Feedback Even Before Being Released!
Monitor Audio had plenty of new products to show off at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but one of the stand-outs for many was definitely the new Airstream A100 amplifier, Monitor Audio's first ever integrated amplifier.
Hans Wetzel of SoundStage! Access came by Monitor Audio's showroom to audition the A100 and was blown away by it's quality...
"I was startled by the A100's sheer functionality."
"...a sound that belies its low asking price. In fact, I was floored when I was told that the A100, available in black or white, will retail for $500 when it bows in March."
"The A100 has a lot of potential -- it pushed a pair of Monitor's bookshelf speakers pretty loud, with no hint of clipping. I have no idea how they managed to cram a class-A/B amp into that slim, attractive chassis without heatsinks, but they did."
"These days, affordable hi-fi is pretty freaking cool."
In addition to Han's words of praise, Bob Archer of CE Pro was also very pleased with the A100 and had some positive feedback to give...
"For the pure sound quality, price and application, the best demo in the Venetian belonged to Monitor Audio. Using its A100 AirPlay-enabled digital amplifier and a pair of its compact, stand-mounted Gold GX50 loudspeakers, Monitor's reasonably priced system offered clarity, detail and a surprisingly large sound stage. Using music from Adele and the Zac Brown Band, this system was anything but chicken fried, it rocked."
"Monitor Audio's A100 AirStream Amplifier and Gold Series GX50 bookshelf loudspeakers stole the show for me. This AirPlay-based amp and small footprint speaker combination brings the performance level and fun of wireless audio to a whole new level."
